Title: 040612
Post by: handyman [Alan} on June 04, 2012, 05:20:49 PM
Well, after yesterdays torrential rain where over 42mm fell in 24 hours, it was good to get away from the cabin fever! So me, Techony, Diggerdave and Mrs H, had a days detecting on our local stubble.

Mrs H broke her duck and got her first hammy of the year, with her trusty Garrett 250. [Any help with the ID would be appreciated]. My finds were limited to a pinhead, a spectacle buckle and a very interesting shoe!

As for Techony and Diggerdave, i'll leave them to tell you what they got

Well done Mrs H, well deserved  ;D ;D ;D

I had a quietish day until the end. A little casket key, georgian ha'penny and some form of embossed token. Not to mention the surface find of a 12 inch chunk of iron with a very wierd design for what I assume is off some form of modern farm equipment. That'll be one for the farmer to id ::)

After everyone else had left, a nice little 'coin' popped up that I thought was a Roman. Now it's home and cleaned I'm not so sure. Any idea's anyone? The reverse is blank. Then, as I was busy trying to swat a wasp that had taken a liking to my hat, I was driven off course somewhat. After having given him a severe headache on the twentieth swing of the spade, I got back to the job in hand and up popped little Eddie, 10 feet away from the line I had been following before Mr Martyr buzzed me.

Nice one Dave,

Here's the surface shot of your Henry Sovereign-type penny. Can't wait to see the close ups. Back out again in the morning before the afternoon showers if you're interested... (ps. you're not allowed to bring your detector though  ;D)

{EDIT}
ps. It's a Henry VIII (mm Portcullis): Spink 2328
