Title: Coin weight ???
Post by: Techony on March 04, 2012, 09:01:21 AM
Here's a wee one from yesterday. To me it looks like a coin weight, but I can't find anything like it online. Its copper alloy, weighs 5.61g (86.6 grain) and measures 17mm diameter x 3.7mm. Any ideas on this one Peter?

Cheers,

Very nice and unusual.

Although underweight (the coin would have been 6.69 grams), this appears to be a coin weight for a French Louis D'Or of Louis XIII or XIV - mid to late 17th century.

The lettering between the arms of the cross reads L D' O R  (I think!)

Thanks Peter, I don't know how you do it!

I though I could make out | D | O | L | L | , but your version makes a lot more sense LOL  ;D

You're a star
