Title: Item for I.D. Please...
Post by: dragonsbreath(Paul) on February 06, 2012, 11:28:01 AM
The following item was found several years ago in Dorset on a site that has provided
good finds from Roman era on wards.
The item in question has divided opinion among the "experts" ranging from a Georgian rein guide to
a handle from a Roman artifact.
Its a copper/bronze alloy with an iron tang embedded in ts base.
The design is of punched rosette motifs of a crescent design approx. 25 x 35 mm
The stem terminates in a sub rectangular flange which holds the remains of an embedded iron tang
Would love to put this one to bed so any ideas folks?
