What rates as your best ever days Detecting?

Easy Rob, any Detecting Wales Rallies.Met some great blokes.

Back about 17  years ago on playground with the bark covering, lone parent of 3 at the time, very little money but had a c scope 770D. Found £85 in coinage (that was £20 more than I was getting in weekly benefits!), that was a great help to buy shoes etc; did think at the time that the kids playing on there were given far too much pocket money, found six quid in one neat little pile.
Next best day was going out with my 1266x, just the fact that I had been able to save to buy it was great, a nice feeling going out knowing that if it is there you have a good chance of finding it

Second time out , I found a roman bull figurine . I passed it through the P.A.S. who confirmed that it was a roman votive 3 horned  bull , the figurine itself is made of a bronze alloy , and was more or less sitting on the surface.
            After that I was hooked ! 

I don't get that bulls have 2 horns don't they? Ohhhh!
Nice find though.

Then why don't you send them to me,eh!!!! ::)

The days i remember and regard as days worth remembering is the ones when your in great company and everythings right with the world finding is just a bonus .

I must be getting soppy in my old age  lol

Many years ago whilst detecting on barry beach I was approached by a young couple who had been paddlimg in the surf the young women told me her husband had just lost is wedding they had only been two weeks before feeling sorry for them I said Iwould search for it  but could,nt promise  them anything by this time the tide had lowered I asked them where they were when the loss took place I drew some grids on the wet sand and worked them one at a time a couple of pulltabs later Irecieved a cracking signal stuck my trowel in the sand out popped a gold eternity ring  five minutes later I found the husbands  ring I shall always remember their faces  I refused a reward  things like this can make ones day and can only reflect well on the hobby ::) mole

i tell you what dai(mole) thats a great idea drawing grids on the sand when looking for a lost items for sombody.the best ideas are always the simplest.nice one mate.

i think my best days detecting was in monmouth were i found 6 hammerd in a day that is my record so happy that day one more wouldnot hurt ;) :D

I ve had many good days detecting, but one stands out the out with finding a very rare Viking sword pommel. :) :) :)

well i woke up on a lovely hot day  got to the field  and set off  nothing at all for the first hour or so  then the machine gave a good signal........  i started to dig  and at about 6 inches  caught a glint of gold ................................  as i pushed the spade into the dry soil....  my heart pounding   i turned over the soil from the spade ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,   and thre  glinting in the sunlight was at least 50 gold coins ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,    at this point the flippin  mrs  nudged me in the ribs saying     the babys  awake ...................typical  but wot a dream   ;D ;D ;D ;D

best day for me was finding my first hammered, about 2 weeks after i started tecting, I was out with gadget ian

Best days detecting for me was Caerleon 1 rally. Although I found nothing significant I did find an awful lot of coins, buckles and the like. It was my best day though because it restored my faith in detectorists, having only previously been on weekend wanders rallies and seeing what a cut throat day it can be. All you folks made me realise what a good bunch you are.

arrr i found 5 nice hammered in  a day and a silver ring,
 other than that twas  when 2 of us found our 2 bronze age Hoards

Best day i had was with sutt looking for farms
and we was taking it in turns to ask for per
mission it was sutts turn he came back to the car
with the look of disgust on his face and he said that
woman told me to get off her land and if i didnt she would
go in her house get her gun and shoot me  and she called me a
scronger what a laugh ;D ;D ;D ;D
