I think it may be a good idea that if those on the reserve list could let us know where they will be travelling from and then possibly if someone who is attending is from your neck of the woods and has a spare place in their car, they could offer you a lift ;)

I don't mind giving anybody a lift from J45 M4 (share costs) but just be aware, there is no smoking in the car.

If its just you Mike your still welcome to come with me, Jan, and Charles

Directions will be sent the night before the rally. Meeting time is usually 9-9:30am and the usual costs for a days detecting is £7. And all members attending the rally is required to have either NCMD or FID insurance

Not sure how it works online buy I would think they would send you a card in the post but may be good idea to print off email confirmation if you got one and carry that with you until you get a card

Just to check, is there space enough for me to take my van. I v been invited to share with markymark (appriciated m8 ta ;D). Although il still travel with mark if it means someone else can go, no problem at all as long as marks cool with it.

Just a question as nobody else has asked, but I bet they're all thinking it...

What happens if the predicted Sub-Zero temperatures/snow that are forcast for this week continue and we can't even get a spade in the ground ?  Will it get postponed ?  Its a bit early to predict at the moment I guess.

Do we have a man on the ground to report beforehand ?

Personally I'm hoping for a mini heatwave...  At the moment Meteox are predicting an above freezing temp sometime around 13.00 for a few hours, we just need a bit of warm for a couple of days before to lose the permafrost  ;D

We normally take a decision the day before and make people aware before we send out the direction details. I don't think to date we have had to cancel any yet. If we have I don't remember it.

Hard ground can be a problem apart from digging in the first place, its a nightmare to put back, as in my experience it doesn't knit as well and can result in ruined pastures.

I have detected in snow on three occasions and twice found silver (one an Edy halfpenny). If anything I found the snow helped with signals, but granted it was only a few inches deep.

We'll ask Cheffy to shove his spade in his garden before we decide as he lives a short distance away from the site.

Have been out in the snow & ice myself, I remember asking DaveHa what the strange white stuff was forming on the coil, Haw Frost ! LOL.
