Title: Test your ID skills Newbies - A little bit of fun.

Ok , all you long in the tooth know-it-alls can keep schtum here. Here are some commonly and some not so commonly found Items that are sometimes not readily recognisable.

Only a bit of fun see if you can get them.  By the way if you want a closer / better pic on any just shout.

I've not enough experience to name them but I'm sure number 8 is a cast from making Musket balls isn't it?

Sorry if way off there but someone found one of those at the Penmark rally and said that it was the framework left after the musket ball were removed.

LOL Mike, so many people instantly say "oh its a casting sprue" but if you sit down and work out how many pieces the mould would have to have for all those legs jutting at different angles to be connected to a musket ball, well it makes a Rubik's cube look simple  ;)

Its what I was told it was as well Mike a couple of years back , but as Chef has said and Peter hinted at earlier in the thread, its not known what these artifacts were used for - Lots of theories but no sure identification.  :)

All correct although number 2 again is an argued point some say pastry Jigger , others say leather worker/cutter

I found something like no.16 on a Roman field in Lincs. Somebody told me it was a cheekpiece from a harness fitting, 1st century.

Well Done Win it is a Celtic Harness fitment, they dont think its a cheek piece though , too small

It's very odd isn't it. You would think that someone, somewhere would know what they are.

I don't go with the musket ball idea at all. Apart from the horrendous looking mould that would be needed, surely someone would have found one with at least one musket ball attached.

swan mussel , heather found 1 in somerset rally , they live in freshwaterways and lakes and are huge

regarding item 12,i found a blue glass bead in my garden yeterday it was on top of a molehill, alitte of the edge is chipped and it rubs of like powdered glass,maybe roman??,,found a 1984 10p suck in the middle of a molehill the other week ;D,,im just waiting till the litttle blighters push up a stater :o ;D
