Title: Yesterdays Finds for ID
Post by: rjm on September 12, 2011, 02:54:24 PM
The first picture is obviously a Strap End. Probable date/style?

The silvered brooch looks Medieval.

The large brooch I suspect is Iron Age. Ideas as to date and type.

The last photo is an Apothecary spoon, I believe?

Bob - your imagination's working overtime ;)

First one looks like an eyelet - similar to these but not barbed:

http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showcat.php?cat=22&stype=1&si=eyelet&perpage=12&sort=1&stype=&limit=&cat=22&ppuser=0 (http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showcat.php?cat=22&stype=1&si=eyelet&perpage=12&sort=1&stype=&limit=&cat=22&ppuser=0)

Second one looks like a post-medieval belt mount - are there spikes on the back?

Third is something modernish - reminds me of part of a bell-pull mechanism.

Last one may be one of these:

Shoould have gone to specksavers with a follow up visit to boots for the antidepressants.

Is the plastic tube on the "brooch" your addition or is that  iron age too?
