Title: 1811 One Penny Token

Hi

Found my first token today dated 1811 with the wording Birmingham and Neath and he word Copper at the bottom, which I think from a quick google should read copper Company. Not outtanding I know but I was happy  ;D

nice find there. Produced at the tail end of the industrial revolution. There may also be a reference to redruth [cornwall] somewhere.

the birmingham copper company was well know and is a fascinating read about its operation.

hello stampy i found a 1791 token penny seeing that you saw neath on it the one i have is a charles roe and he was a copper smith and had a foundry in neath look him up on the web the one i have there was only 60 struck that year well done to you sinky . 8) ;) :)

thanks nap sorry no photo will ask our daughter to do it 4 me im hopeless at that any way if you type in charles roe on the web it will bring up a photo of the coin that i have his head is faceing to the right but as u turn the coin over to show the back its up side down for some reason .the date on it is 1758 to 1791 . it was down about 5 inches under a lot of shale all the best hunting sinky take a look on web was i chuffed . i would say as you look at the photo of it on web thats what mine looks like as if the soil preserved it sinky .ps i for got i had it until i read about the other chap saying he had found a simular type of coin neat and well done to him .bye sinky again .  8) :)
