Title: Yank visiting the UK
Post by: nad on August 28, 2011, 02:27:24 PM
Now that I've added a few years and slowed down, I thought I would like to visit the UK and do some swinging.  Have been since 1960...Are there any "tours" that can be purchased.Detectors. Have a modded Vaquero, getting a Vista RG750, and have a Compadre in an Otterbox, with minelab U/W phones..I would prefer to send the machines over, and pick them up there.. Have a virtually unused G-2 , that I am going to sell..Have been a beep and digger for 51 years, the tones and numbers slow me down too much....So, which detectors to bring, all three, the Vista(which I have not tried, or the Vaquero? Your Rivers and streams, do you wade them?   The only coin I would be interested in finding would be the little Celtic with the horse on it...Assume that they are of specific times and locations...That ground use, crops would dictate hunting times..You may laugh at my specific coin..I went on a hunt in the middle of absolute nothing. Only coin of interest was a Canada 5 cent silver.Only coin was found by me , a very nice 5 cent silver..I can go through the junk and photograph it for you....What would be a digging tool for fields. I use a Lesche digging knife, and have one of the weapon style shovels. Also, a Garrett pro pointer...An apology for all the questions, but I may get a leg up on the little I know about your style of hunting..

The time is the key since I don't know how your seasons play out..Fields get planted, and become off limits,Summers can be dry, making for very hard digging.. On the other hand , streams and ponds will be low. making for great hunting down stream from fords ,and bridges. Retired, I am a wood carver now. Last item anyone will buy in this "great " economy is a carving,,especially a Santa carving at over a hundred dollars...Sent off three photos, and my new carving has gathered three sales from people who said they might skip a carving this year The UK trip might be a gift from Santa.if this continues to play out...Or from the bank gal who said  1.15 is the best interest you'll ever get..And the dummy went out and drained the accounts into silver, and gold coin  at $4.00 and $400.00....To the conventional investor, madness, even now, ;D...
