one of many recent finds! ive weighed it and its 7.1 grams 1/4 ounce. could it be a weight? any idea of date? thanks in advance!!

Yes, it's a trade weight. Probably Victorian or later.

not that old then, but thanks for that all the same.thought it was older seeing its copper.  :D :D

It could be earlier - weights like this didn't change a lot from the 17th to the 20th century. The clue will be if there are any marks on it - see the marks on these here. Have a closer look at yours to see if there is anything there:

Lead weights were made illegal about 1830, so if this is copper/brass, its probably after that date.
