Had a signal a year ago - dug for the object and up popped a flint scraper!

Dont mention Golf Balls in my presence. ???  I've collected a carrier bag full off my field.
Theres a nutter lives down the lane who practices in his 1 acre. Theres a Rookery near by and they keep picking the balls up and flying off with them and dropping them in my field. Pesky critters.

To answer your question seriously. Yes and no. I did they same today. It wasn't a golf ball but a piece of very old pottery with finger imprints on it.  I'll try and get a pici tommorrow. I did check the hole again and the signal had changed, Iron again.(I was so surprised) ::)

A few weeks ago when some of the lads came over camping we were detecting in the evening and I got a cracking signal which I had to use my Garrett to pinpoint..an old piece of thin copper pipe (or so I thought) >:( which by the time I cleaned it up 2 days later had miraculously turned into a stick :-[ yes a stick. So whatever I had detected and then pinpointed must have been just under the twig and was probably reburied.

It works on pottery as well. Last Friday i had a signal which I dug. Lost it at about five inches but had pulled 2 pieces of pot out. the first piece was Staffordshire blue and white stripe ironstone jug from the 1940,s / 50,s but when it gives the same signal as two differant gold rings ( Melonhead and Ancient Pat ) I have run by my coil you have to dig it.
