welldone to detectingwales youngest ralley attendent. ( SCRAPPY ) who also found his first hammered coin at the ralley.and what a first hammered it was.great find mucker.hope you will live up to your fathers reputation and find as many in the future as he has.but it.ll take awhile son.lol. again welldone scrappy. raymondo. I was looking up earlier on today on how to straighten coins, not much luck. I would love to know! I bet Scrappy must be thrilled now its straight!! I wouldn't mind having my Eddy flattened a bit!

Essentially you lay the coin on the bottom of an upturned sauce pan and heat it with a blow torch till it is cherry red, then you slide it off into a glass of cold water while its still red. This allows the silver crystalline structure to be remodelled (flattened). Use a round pencil or other smooth soft tool to roll it out like pastry. Use a wooden chopstick to start straightening folded over coins because it has a round point at the end. You may have to repeat the process several times because you still have to do it gently and in small increments. If you have a gas cooker or camping stove that's perfect.
