Title: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: Val Beechey on June 02, 2011, 07:39:51 PM I know there have been one or discussions about Cow horn protectors and I've read them with interest. BUT - it never occurred to me that I'd found one till today. Definately I.D'd buy someone who knows.
So I took a couple of pici's to post and then remembered I'd got something, somewhere that was much the same. I dug it out of the grot and YES it's another. And there was me thinking they were door knobs. ::) Val Title: Re: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: Jassy on June 02, 2011, 08:16:18 PM your not alone Val, we thought they were doorknobs too when we found one!!
Title: Re: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: tyna on June 03, 2011, 07:28:49 AM Well well - you live and learn. Certainly looks like a door knob to me.
Title: Re: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: Meatslicer on June 03, 2011, 03:37:22 PM You can tell they are cow horn ends by the cuts in the side for gripping when screwing on, and the very coarse thread inside for cutting into the horn. A doorknob would have a fine thread if any at all.
Eric Title: Re: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: rjm on June 03, 2011, 05:22:03 PM I've had posts saying they're poker handles or horse decoration. I think Eric is right when he says they're more likely to be cow horn protectors. Title: Re: YOU NEVER KNOW Post by: heather on June 03, 2011, 06:03:19 PM cool val !! Ill remember that as I often dig up door handles ! lol, shall have a look now and see if they are cow horn protectors.
