Title: 1st gold ring for march Post by: dances with badgers on March 09, 2011, 05:51:09 PM howdoo peeps,went out for a couple of hours to check the sands shifting and i got my first gold ring this month.its old, knackered and most of the gold plating has wore off but its a start.19 left to go for my march personal challenge

Title: Re: 1st gold ring for march Post by: Val Beechey on March 10, 2011, 09:24:31 AM Should have done what I did. Gave up after about an hour and wondered bach up beach. Met old fella with dog I'd seen before. He finds a nice spot out of the wind and just sits there throwing a ball for his dog.
I stayed there, sitting in the Sun, out of the wind, having a smoke and a natter for another hour and then went home with NOTHING in my finds bag. Look out for exposed rocks not normally seen or any unusual things sticking out of the beach. This beach was very popular to the Victorians. Title: jassy Post by: dances with badgers on March 10, 2011, 11:12:38 AM sorry to hear you did'nt get anything jassy,yes nice to meet you if i new anyone was going to be there i would have popped my teeth in lol. like i told you we were a bit early in the month.full moon time i have found is best ,i only went down there cos i did'nt have anything else to do. i was very lucky because most of the beach eas sanded in,just found a little patch behind a sandbar that was giving me old coins that were only 2 inches deep so i gridded that area.that ring is well knackered and looks like it has been thrown about in the surf a lot.
i have seen rings come off the little beach last month but i only get fishing weights and tons of ring pulls off there so i go on the big beach the surf was rough so something nice could pop up,i have yet to suss out what happens with the wind direction and its relation to the beach,learning all the time good luck mike Title: Re: 1st gold ring for march Post by: tyna on March 10, 2011, 11:17:38 AM I found that North Easterly winds are best for Aberavon pet. :)

Title: Re: 1st gold ring for march Post by: Jassy on March 10, 2011, 11:25:08 AM i was still getting used to the ace, i think im better off using my p.i. machine for the beach, went to the small side about 2 weeks ago, found loads of weights, a pound coin in the wet sand and a 10p in the soft!! yesterday i found nothing but im still getting used to the new machine...you will have to letme know when u are down there next ,I'm gonna nag you this time!!! hahhhaaa!!
Title: jassy Post by: dances with badgers on March 10, 2011, 11:29:45 AM no problem i will be keeping an eye on the sands.i am sticking to one beach to learn a bit about what to look out for then i should be able to apply that knowledge to other beaches you are right about the pi machinr but be prepered to do a lot of digging :o i had one ooooooh my back hurts thinking about it.i was digging hair clips at 2 feet with it >:( but i was a very powerfull machine
