Title: Greetings All
Post by: nosuchi on January 08, 2011, 03:34:43 AM
New to the site.
I haven't been detecting for nigh on 15-20yrs now.
I've just purchased a GC1020 for the princely sum of £10. It looks to be in unused, brand new condition, so hopefully, I have a usable bargain.
I would have loved a Garret/Whites/Minelab or similar, but I'm unemployed and seriously skint @ the moment.
I've heard/read various things about this machine, both good and bad. Does anyone have any experience of the GC1020, (I believe it is sold under several other Names/Brands). If you do, please let me know.
I have just started researching potential sites in my area (Aberdare). I'd forgotten how much I enjoy doing the Sherlock bit and poring over the Maps and Manuscripts etc.
Just hope the GC's up to the job.

It's not a machine I've heard of but having a quick look it's a Gold Century 1020 machine.

The body style leads me to believe it's from the Bounty Hunter series, an American manufacturer. They aren't
used much in the UK. I believe the performance is reasonable, and for £10 you can't go wrong!

If you find you want to upgrade then you would get more than £10 in part exchange, even against a second
hand detector.

But give the machine a go and see how you get on. You've done some detecting before and I'm sure it'll
start coming back to you when you start 'swinging'!

Forums such as this one is a good place to 'pick peoples brains' and keep the enthusiasm going when it
wanes from time to time.

Let us all know how you get on.......

Happy hunting.
