Title: Explorer SE
Post by: Dodger on December 03, 2010, 09:24:23 PM
Hi all,
Just acquired an Explorer SE. Upgrading from an Ace 250. Exp looks complicated but I'm sure I'll master it. Anyone any tips they could share with regards to set up etc. Are factory presets the way to go initially?  :-\

If not already it is a good idea to register on the minelabowners forums, there you will find equally a wealth of info on set up programmes.

I have used an se  now for 5yrs and will never part company with it,

It is in the beginning worth detecting in factory preset to start, you will still find stuff, and get used to the sounds and dig all two way signals.

On the mlo forum, you can find unless someone on here has a copy, an se emulator which is useful for practicing altering the programmes.

There are more experienced users on here who should also be able to advise you, be patient and you will be rewarded  ;D

As Outlaw has said the emulator is a brilliant bit of kit to learn what happens when you adjust this and that. On the question of factory settings I think you are going to get different views dependant on how that person learnt theirs, I personally have always advised to set the explorers/Etracs up as you mean to use them in the future, otherwise you have a double learning curve which is pointless. You don't buy a new car and drive it only at 30mph until you get used to it.
