My best bet would be Roman but as the Doc says would like to see some more pics of the underneath and the other side. Could you put a measure in the picture for scale as well. Thanks Nomad.

Made of bronze though I have never seen such an artefact. It is puzzling and yet a interesting find Nomad. Will post a Carved Saxon Head picture so you can see what I mean. Wonder if it may be Nordic. ( Viking ).
