Title: Men getting paid to detect the beaches Post by: Al.Thepastfinder, ( Alan ) on July 02, 2009, 08:21:03 AM when i was in the Museum yesterday the guy there told me that when he was in Portugal on his hols last year there were 2 men on the beach with detectors,
they'd be going up and down all day long. they were paid by the council to find items of lost jewelry ect that the public had lost, plus they were getting rewarded from the people when they found their items, they had council clothes on so the public can recognise them, but hey, what a job, i'd like some of that myself i think Title: Re: Men getting paid to detect the beaches Post by: Richy on July 02, 2009, 08:34:32 AM Hey that's my kind of job! :) :)
On a lot of the beaches in Spain they use a machine which sifts the top 6" of sand, they do this every night after the beaches are deserted. Primarily its to remove any glass, tin cans etc but I bet they make some fantastic finds. be ok for a week but we would never go out detecting on the weekend for fun and enjoyment.
