Title: Mary (1553/4)
Post by: b.buoy on February 15, 2016, 09:13:51 PM
Found this a couple of weeks ago. Bent and brittle as anything. Bits falling off.
Jason, fair dos, said its a "Mary" and as it was a mess anyway, I decided to try and anneal and straighten it by following the recent article.

This is the result. A nice coin. Size of a groat, but is it a groat, half groat or penny? can Doc help with mint etc. Please all feel free

"Bent and brittle and bits falling off " for a moment I thought you were describing me with my bad back ;D ;D well found by the way and a cracking job straightening.

Join the clan, I know the feeling well. Age, and a life of debauchery, rape and pillaging seem to leave their mark. At least that's what I am told ;)

Well, it's a Mary (by herself I think) - and if it's a groat size then it's probably a groat :D

London mint.

Don't think it's a half groat, looks more like 3/4  ;D.  Nice find and good job
