Title: Wednesdays Finds
Post by: celticspikey on October 17, 2015, 08:14:57 AM
Wow !! the autumn is here although but in my field it felt more like winter, what with the really cold north wind blowing on an exposed site, so it had me seeking some shelter down in the valley and searching some slopes. a good selection of brooches in fact my best for a days detecting coupled with the interesting bronze mount which I'm sure is also roman, any thoughts as I cant find a parallel yet. The bronze blade looks bronze age, and whats more I finished up with the Durotrigian debased stater. Hope you enjoy the pictures any way......Spikey

Great stuff - you have a wonderful site there!

Definitely Roman pelta-shaped mount, like this:

Excellent finds, once again, Paul.  Love the mount, very unusual.

Wish we could find a bit more of the older stuff around here.
