Title: Roman Minim Post by: GJH on May 03, 2013, 08:33:53 PM Could someone please tell me who's bust this is, I hope you can enlarge the image as I am not very good at photography, it's really clear on my camera. Thanks Geoff Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: Chef Geoff on May 03, 2013, 08:50:07 PM Nice find Geoff, not quite big enough I'm afraid to see anything, can you get any closer or you can email me the original jpg and I'll crop it for you. Also it looks too big to be a minim :-\ you can put 3 minims on a 5p piece.

Geoff Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: Chef Geoff on May 03, 2013, 09:04:09 PM yes 8mm is a little on the large side for a true minim but there again I don't think there is much known about them or even if they were official, so it could well be. Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: Chef Geoff on May 22, 2013, 02:15:52 PM This should be a little better......
Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: Chef Geoff on May 22, 2013, 02:43:30 PM I think it's just a corroded Roman grot Geoff, by the time you put back the part of the head that's missing then a legend around the rim your nearly up to twice the size :-\
Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: GJH on May 22, 2013, 03:17:33 PM Thanks Geoff, I have looked everywhere for identity of the bust but can't find it, also if you turn the reverse of the coin upside down there is a what could be a horse. Thanks again Geoff Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: Chef Geoff on May 22, 2013, 03:27:04 PM A horse ???
Your really not getting out enough Geoff ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: anthonyjay on May 22, 2013, 06:48:55 PM Any chance it may be a HONORIUS 393 - 432 ?
Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: probono on May 22, 2013, 09:44:28 PM It's definitely barbarous.
I'd say 4th century. If it has a horse on the reverse (can't really tell) then it would be copying the 'FEL TEMP REPARATIO' series of Constantius II, but obviously minim sized (so after 348AD). Title: Re: Roman Minim Post by: dances with badgers on May 22, 2013, 11:37:24 PM nice.i will get some roman coins soon lol :o
