Title: Re: Fob seal imprint Post by: Dungbeetle on April 29, 2013, 04:59:14 PM Make sure you dip it in talcum powder first or any corrosion could get pulled off by the Blutac/wax ;) Thanks Geoff. The body of the seal is copper alloy but the seal itself is a dark yellowy brown glass or stone (opaque) so blue tac should not be a problem.Title: Re: Fob seal imprint Post by: cardiffian on April 29, 2013, 08:08:45 PM You can also get small blocks of proper sealing wax. These come in all colour variants. They should be available from any decent craft shop. If you have a Hobbycraft store near you they definitely sell them. I think The Range sell them as well.
Title: Re: Fob seal imprint Post by: jelida on April 29, 2013, 09:42:37 PM FIMO modelling compound is the stuff, small ball, work it til soft, roll it a little with a glass for smooth surface, talc very lightly with finger tip and press carefully. Takes a super impression, bake gently and sets like hard plastic. Use a little at a time, keep sealed, lasts years, lots of colours.

I tried the seal with some blue tac this morning and it portrays a Georgian man looking left. I will try to get some pics this weekend if my official photographer is playing out!
