Title: Bideford - Devon - anyone been detecting here? Post by: Neil on September 22, 2012, 04:49:12 PM Has anyone ever been detecting in Bideford? Going there in a few weeks and curious if anyone has tried the beaches or the estuary. In the Medieval period it's reported to have been England's third biggest port - sounds promising.

Mostly modern coins etc, but when you are standing on the beach looking out to sea, if your glance to your left there is an area where locals have found flint tools etc. It will all depend on how much sand has been re-distributed from the beach, if you can get down to the hard mud you will have a better chance.
