Title: My Bronze age lump
Post by: hotmill on September 06, 2012, 07:38:45 AM
As mentioned in a previous post I found what I think is a fragment of Bronze age copper bullion ingot. Found on the club dig a couple of weeks ago. Done a fair bit of research on the internet and have seen a few similar fragments on the UKDFD and PAS sites. Have sent some photos to the local FLO and wait for a reply. Thought I would post some pictures. I have given it a bit of a scratch in one area and it is  copper underneath all the weathering.

It looks like the bottom of a bronze age furnace as we have found similar pieces here ...the smooth part is piece lying against bottom of furnace hole ...
