Title: A FEW FINDS FROM THIS LAST WEEK

Apart from a few coins etc i managed to find the buckle today

Could someone give me an idea of era please ?

Any idea on the surface pottery find please ?

I'm afraid that link won't be of much use tracking your buckle down, It has an offset bar which points to it being a horse harness buckle and the curved edges put's it in the Georgian/Victorian era.

Yes Al, my iron content is defo down!!!!!

these fields dont seem to bringing much more than victorian/georgian coins items etc up  :(

He assured me that noone has detected these fields, and hes been farming the land since the the 1950s and his ancestors before him ???

When the ribbon was discovered surely they must have detected the area then

Has it been ploughed in living memory? if not then it's quite possible that the older finds are just too deep.

Yes Chef he said all 5 field have been heavily ploughed over the last 100 years, all except for one which was woodland im quite surprised theres not much about as dinedor hill fort is just over the hill!!!

On a plus though my little treasure is is finding it if its there!! lol

If you are detecting around Rotherwas and Dindor Hill Norman some serious landscapeing went on during the second world war. Please feel free to contact me and I will try to give you a lowdown. It is still an interesting area as surprisingly some of the recent cropmark enclosures excavated have been dated to the early sixth century. Outside of Hereford City totally unique for the County.
