In the I.O.M the Gaelic word Argid means silver metal or money and I have checked field & place name survey. I have
located five field names, one a hoard site. The Welsh must have a similar word and you probably have place name
surveys. I say have a look you never know your luck. Smiley Smiley

Good point Vane. Anyone know the field or place names to look out for in Wales?

I think the Welsh for silver is arian and for gold it's aur. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.. Smiley

Correct, the parish I live in is called Troed yr aur (Foot of the gold) and I have read that it is called so as there is gold at the foot of the hill. Shocked Also I know of a farm called Nant yr arian (Stream of silver/money). Will have to check them out someday.
