permission to detect in parks

hi guys and gals,
so i went to my local council office and asked about metal detecting in local parks and the woman behind the counter didnt have a clue but she gave me the email add of the park devolpment and countryside manager so i sent him a little email to ask and here is the reply..

Hi Stephen,
My apologies for taking some time to get back to you. I am not aware of any reason why you cannot use your metal detector within our parks and open spaces, but it would be subject to making sure that any ground disturbed, is returned to it’s original state before you leave the site.
I could out you in touch with the relevant park manager for the area who may be able to meet with you to discuss this further.

so i think this means its ok to do a bit of park detecting?
obviously i will have to have a chat to whoever is the park attendant at the time just to make sure but this looks promising

swansea club has permission for park land
 sat  & sun from 1/10/11 - 21/3/12 with the exeptions of oystermouth castle and victoria park

As has been mentioned, Swansea Council have been authorizing this for some time.
Perhaps you guys in different parts of the country can use Swansea as an example in getting permissions in your part of the world.
Word of mouth is not good enough for park keepers so they should issue permits with signatures of authorizing council member responsible for the relevant departments.

I got permission on park land, the council dont mind u detecting on parks as long as u dont do it on sports pitches, bowling greens, fill holes, and dont damage anything. loads of pre dec and modern coinage to be found along with bits of jewellry and fishing weights lol

Ive tossed an email to Hereford parks management to see what they say, like you say no harm in asking!
could do with some modern coinage the way work is at the moment!!!

Cardiff City Council allow it by obtaining a licence via Cardiff Scan club which has your photo on.

NCMD insurance also required.
