Found this on a dig today. I originally thought it was a cartwheel penny but then realised in was a Faustina Roman Bronze. You really wouldnt want many of these in your pocket or purse. Its an Inch and a quarter wide and 3/16th of an inch thick !!!!
Some nice finds came out on a field that had been dug 3 times before by the club. A Couple of hammereds, a few more Roman bronzes and one superb complete Roman Brooch complete with hook on the back. Looked like it had been dropped yesterday !!
I found a nice Young Victoria Halfpenny too.

Oh yes the XP Deus is a superb machine.

Nice find.  That must have nearly blown the head phones off your ears?
As can be seen from the reverse, Faustina was a pretty tall women for Roman, You cant see it on your example Goldpanner but mint versions of this coin clearly show Faustina with basketball in hand going for an Historic 3 pointer against the Etruscans. Roll Eyes

My very first roman coin was a Faustina Sestertius. Well done on a nice roman Goldpannner.

The only sestertius I found was Fasutina II, and the first one I ever bought (20 years ago now), which i still have was a similar one with a 'Fecunditas' reverse - Faustina II had a lot of children (including a couple of sets of twins), although only a few survived to adulthood (Commodus being one of them).
