Hi,not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this,looking into fieldmaster tecs they list 3 models on their site,but as yet i  find only 1 review of  an old model, has anybody had experience of this make of tec and are they a good all-rounder? cheers ebdon

Yes this is the right place.  Personally I know zilch about detectors but be patient I'm sure someone will answer your question.

Hi Ebdon and welcome to the forum.
OK, firstly I'm not actually sure if Fieldmaster are still trading, If so then I think it is for the overseas market more than the UK, as I can't honestly say the last time I saw a new one.
Fieldmaster were a major force UK metal detecting back in the 70's and early 80's, but dropped out of popularity on the mass arrival of the American machines.
Their machines were always well made and reliable, however their limitation is the lack of accessory coils, I do have somewhere a Searchman x7 which is a more than capable machine though it is probably no better than the garrett ace range.
Personally, If I only wanted a Metal detector to do occasional detecting, then I would say you could do a lot worse than buy a Fieldmaster, however if you see yourself becoming a regular and dedicated hobbyist then I would honestly advise you to look at the more mainstream makes.

Cheers Guys for the input,maybe not a good choice then,like to buy from the uk if poss,supporting our people etc etc.but worried about how usable  they are, and to get spares etc. keep looking tho at other , ebdon
