Hi ladies & gents
I currently have a Whites pulse induction Dual field detector for the beach / surf

But was looking to buy a Pulse Induction that works both on the beach / surf as well as inland ( don´t want Minelab / multi frequency detectors don´t pick up gold chains ) but want extreme depth inland.
I was thinking of a Garrett infinium, do any of you lads / ladies know if it is any good or not, or an alternative detector, maybe an older Fisher ? ? ?

Possibly the CZ 21.

i thought that PIs drive you mad if you use them inland!

I tried one once and it was pinging all the time (a Whites PI)

I agree with badger, it also depends whether or not the chain is lying flat out or in a ball,my Excalibur had no problem picking up chains in the surf, mite get one again and get back in the water on south coast this summer, I miss it  Wink Wink

Take a look at the gold chain and the multifrequency doesn´t pick it up, I have done this test myself with an Explorer and Safari and they simply don´t pick up gold chains, ( 50 seconds )

Undisturbed Dirt Depth Test -- Minelab, Garrett, Fisher, DeepTech in the Test Trench

The Multifrequency machines have difficulty picking up gold chains..

depends on the size and the way that the chain is lying ,if its all bunched up you dont get a problem.try testing in wet sand

It doesn't matter if it's bunched up but it does depend on the thickness of the chain, you're right Monco in that FBS machines are blind to medium/thin chains, a metal detector doesn't see a chain it sees links ie multiple small signals not one big one. If you're finding chains with FBS then you're probably detecting catches or pendants Wink

Thanks Chef Geoff..

I may just keep the Whites PI for the beach and then buy a 2nd Hand PI for inland..it will take a little more research though.. but I am open to suggestions..

I don´t want to start a detector war or say that any detector a colleague may have is or isn´t any good.
I have a T 2 Special edition a G 2 a Whiotes pulse induction dual field, I had a Minelab X terra 505 ace 150 / 250 and Euroace

But before I spend any more money on a detector I want to make sure I but the right tool.

I might scrub my initial question and just go for an Inland Pulse Induction

Any suggestions ? ? ?

After starting this topic I have done some research, and I was suprised by some detectorists complaining about the Infinium, aparently not one of the best... .. ...
