Beachboy went to a new farm he'd got permission for a couple of weeks ago. His first visit, alone, netted a few nice shoe buckles, a trapazoidal tudor buckle, a few Vicky coins and a rather worn hammered. My guess was an Edward penny, but to be honest not much detail could be made on it.
Well yesterday he returned there with me in tow. After a quick chat to the farmer we decided we'd stay in one field for the day to give it a good search .With my trusty Sovereign stashed safely in a hedge i used his explorer ll for the first time, and beachboy was using his explorer xs. my best finds were a shoe buckle, slightly bent, a Dandy button (circa 18th C) and a George lll penny that had seen better days, plus a few decimal coins that looked worse than the George lll and 2 brass plates probably from horse harnesses. Not bad for the first attempt using an explorer i thought.
Beachboy had a nice tombac button, George grot, couple of buckles and 30 mins before we left he pulls up this Eddy Penny (jammy git)
so that makes it 2 trips 2 hammered for him. in the same field.....and theres another 8 fields on the farm he still hasnt tried yet.
