HI PETE.
if found this needle looking atrefact whilst out reccying some land with tafflaff.
it has a lovely green patina going through some parts of it.
looking at some of the club.s library books ive come across something very similar
from the saxon period.called a (GIRDLE HANGER USED BY THE WOMENPART OF THE WAIST-BELT) could you tell me please if it is a saxon girdle hanger butty.

i am intrested in this as i found 1 the same a few months ago , i though maybe a sailmakers needle as found near the river wye.

THIS IS WHAT IT SAY.S IN THE BOOK.

AN ITEMPECULIAR TO THE PAGONSAXON PERIOD.
THESE ARE KNOWN AS (GIRDLE HANGERS) AND WERE WORN ON FEMALE
WAIST-BELTS.THEY ARE PERSUMEDTO BE SYMBOLIC OF KEY.S.PERHAPS UNDERLINING THE FEMALE PLACE IN THE BEDROOM.

Hi Ray, sorry I didn't see this one.

I don't think it's a girdle hanger, probably is some sort of needle or bodkin for tough materials. How long is it?
