Nice assortment of finds Hoover. Is the bottom right a pigeon ring by any chance? I usually report the details of any of mine to the appropriate homing pigeon union. They keep records for 10 years and are keen to know the find location. They then let the owner know where their pigeon met his maker. They appreciate the reporting of any finds. I guess most owners view them as pets like you would cats and dogs (does the weather spring to mind?) and always hope they will turn up safe and sound.

Address for you is:-

Peter Bryant,
General Manager,
The Royal Pigeon Racing Association,
Reddings House,The Reddings,
Near Cheltenham,
Gloucestershire, Gl51 6RN

01452 713529

I don't think they will be able to help on that ring as it is from 1993. However, if you send the details you can ask them for a leaflet with the addresses of the other organisations. This gives the ring prefixes for all the relevant organisations. WHU is the Welsh Homing union whereas NIRC is the Northern Ireland Roller Club etc. If they can identify it from their records they will inform the owner and you will receive a Stray Bird form. This gives the owners details .and phone number. It is interesting to know where the bird was flying from or to when it was lost etc. I have found an Irish Homing Union ring on the south coast. Some distance from home! Hope this helps.
