Bob if your getting a good audio on the Deus you always dig them, forget what the VDI reading is telling you,its only a guide.

I have been using the large coil set up now for well over a month, most of the signals give a larger wider response, with the VDI readings been quite high on most items including silver paper scrap etc.

But i have had 5 hammerds with it, all on pasture,so its doing its job

The depth is outstanding old Victorian half pennies bang out at well over 10 inches

I am still not sold on it,and miss the sharp response of the small coil, i am going to wait and see how it performs on ploughed land,if my hammered count starts going down it will be back to the small coil

Hi try the CL proses on your old or suspected hoard sites. I use mine in disc mode. And have had great success . And you don't have to use high sens either .

That just what I intend to do, I was after a machine that could punch deep on gold. It's no use having a machine that fails to respond to a weak signal. Some of my sites are free from iron and coke, so it will do just fine.

Yes, the small coil is much sharper. The large coil does take some getting used too but it grows on you the more
you use it. Like you I have had halfpennies at well over 10 inches and pennies at 12"+

It depends how the soil is on ploughed, if it's rutted I think I'd use the small coil anyway.

And there was me thinking putting up the video would sort this out once and for all Wink So it's detectors at 20 paces. I've testing this out on at least 100 machines, a few more will do no harm. Grin

Andy has helped me conduct some of the tests, so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't buy one, in the next couple of weeks.

I think Andy needs to see what a Deus with large coil set up can do

With the right settings  Grin

He only lives a few miles up the road from me,we could do a test on video and post the results on here ?

That's already be tried at the rally a Deus with large coil, it didn't make a sound, you would be better off with a smaller coil
