well, it seems as if the latest english fad of closing museums to save money is being picked up on in rural wales.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-16215426

our town museum, closed 5 years ago and re-opened a year ago by volunteers, albeit one saturday morning every month. Interestingly all the artefacts that were with the original museum are still locked up in storage facilities, some of which are in other nearby counties. [One year later, they still only open one saturday in every month]!

The latest mantra by the politicians is 'if you want to save your [libraries, museums, etc etc], then they must be run by volunteers'.  What they seem to forget is that volunteering don;t put the food on the table of those who need it.

seems like a good opportunity for an entrepreneur to approach the council and try and make a going concern out of it.

Another in a long line of examples of Cheapskate Britain.. I believe were the only country in Europe were the official emergency services would collapse without volunteers.

It's gone we should be asking for other countries for aid not sending it out. It just goes to show consequences of what a succession of weak leadership over the last 30 years can do to a once prosperous nation.
