Yes it was a good day, v warm, i managed to get through 3 L of water over the day!
Some good finds, best I could manage was a 1942 Sixpence.
Bit dissapointed with whoever was re burying their scrap, some of the backfilling of holes was poor as well. The farmer is a great guy who has given us no limit to when or how many times we can go back, let's not ruin this permission through laziness.

I think we should try the other farm we have permission for next. Haven't been On there yet and it's a few weeks since me and sodbuster visited the farmer so we could do with getting on there. I'll speak to sodbuster this week to see what we can arrange soonish.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the dig       and some great finds jayhay69 , that roman is a really clear specimen .
I must reiterate what hotmill says  ,in that the quality of the digging has to be top notch , I would hate to lose land to people not filling holes in properly . Scrap must be disposed of correctly buckets are provided for this . Thanks to those who took the trouble to repair  the damage done by bad digging .
Looking forward to the next one , I hope to be there !

on the point of the holes not being filled , you must take into account two members have not detected before ,
not blaming anyone , but this matter should be at meeting level not blasted all over the forum, I filled in at least 6 holes ,that were quite bad, on a lighter note, nobody has praised the new member who found a hammered coin, well done,  on is first attempt at detecting ,,one more thing it would of been nice for the farmer to have seen the finds from is farm,  just a thought ,what do other members think ?

It was mentioned prior to everyone setting off in the morning about filling holes and collecting scrap. I think most people are aware (experienced or not) that if you dig a hole, leave all the mud to one side and then walk off you are probably not doing what you should be doing, that also covers digging a big square of turf and then balancing it on top of a mound of soil you have just put back in the hole and walking away without stamping it back down. I also went round quite a few fields 'repairing' holes.

anyway, the important thing is we all had a good day and some people found some good stuff. As CTX said well done grego for the hammered! We can cover hole filling (oooer!) and turf repairs before the next dig.
