Smashing video Steve - very well made mate!

I missed your "Gold Test Site" at the Glastonbury Rally - love to give it a go next time.

Keep them coming.

Cheers

Don't get to confused Mucker, Steves gold test is more a party trick than any sign of detector competence. The truth is there is no detector made that will do everything and so you have to measure up which one does most things better than another, that is where the Etrac scores highest. But that is just my opinion and depending on which machine you have most success with whilst on productive land will naturally colour your opinion.
Very small low conductors the Explorers/Etrac are blind too, especially at close range and in air and these are not even worth considering if you wanted to go gold prospecting. But on the beach very few VLF machines other than the Sovereign can match it, likewise on pasture their target id'ing at depth is next to none. But for normal run of the mill detecting then most medium to top flight machines are all very much of a muchness, where the Deus, F75, T2, DFX and some others score is because of the higher frequencies in handling the small low conductors, cut quarters etc.
But it depends how far you wish to take this advantage, I have a Nautilus which works on 1980's technology and will still wipe the floor with any of the above on low conductors, but is not as "user friendly" as the others.
In the long term and for very serious detecting (in a perfect world) we would all have 4 or 5 machines each focused at certain types of terrain and targets.

Thanks Geoff.
Very good write up and explanation.
It has made me think twice about upgrading at the moment.
People do think that grass is greener on the other side.I have decided to stay with my trusty minelab x terra 70 with 18.75 DD coil for the ongoing future,as i have been finding some nice keepers.

Good decision Mucker I found some of my best finds with the X-70, If you are looking for a little more performance have you seen the new NEL coils from the Ukraine? If not check out this video by Gaz who is one of the members on here, very impressive for an after market coil.

That tornado coil reminds me of the coil on the Golden Mask 3. 11" circular and filled with resin. No
need for a scuff plate.  It was quite deep on the GM.
