Went out for a few hours today, and pulled up an unusual Roman brooch intact with pin. Looks like a type of plate brooch I think, shame some of the enamels fallen out.

Thats a thing of beauty Avalon - great find matey.

As you say an unusual design especially witrh the central holes and top mount.

Lovely to find it with its pin still intact as well.

What a stunner of a find. Only ever found One roman brooch and it pales into insignificance with this one. Well done indeed a find to be proud of.

The Romans must have been very careless in Gloucestershire, there togas must have been hanging around there knees, with the amount of brooches they lost. Either the pins have just broken or the were burried as an offering to the Gods.

Here are a few more, i've found over the years.

Still need to find a few more to beat my mate Dean who was on the cover of January's issue of Searcher, he's about 50 ahead at the moment but i'm gaining ground. Worcestershire is even richer in Brooches than Gloucestershire, if you know where to look.

What a fantastic collection Shocked. They must have walked around Wales in their birthday suits  Grin. A country of Roman naturists with just a few shy ones wearing togas and losing a few brooches   Grin

Well done Avalon - a collection to be very proud of.

Well here's to Sunday's rally, should produce a few nice objects in Frampton Cotterell, getting into my hunting ground around there.
