Hi bob and welcome to DW. Seems like you've got a bit of catching up to do. Dare I say (poor Geoff again) GEOFF is the man to talk to. I'm sure he'll answer your intro.
Hope you enjoy the site.

Hi Robert and welcome to the forum, OK well to bring you up to speed on what's new...ummmm well the prices went up Undecided Minelab brought out multi frequency that uses harmonics to basically triangulate targets for id and they put the price up and a new make to you will be XP  from France who have strapped a TV remote control onto a metal detector and then put the price up Grin
Oh and all machines now come with much bigger coils as standard so greater depth which they then say is because of a better detector and, yep you guessed it they also put the prices up. But I'm afraid to tell you that other than some go faster stripes you haven't missed anything on the technology front we are still using VLF machines.
If your of the Techy variety then this forum will fulfil your every wish http://www.geotech1.com/forums/index.php
