Post by: dances with badgers on January 26, 2012, 10:02:35 PM
hello peeps has anyone ever done a beach test with a sovereign with a big wot coil against an etrac with a 15'' sef coil.they sound as if they are fairly evenly matched.
 would be interesting hmmm :-\

cant comment on the etrac but having had a sov and an SE i would say theres nothing in them, saying that I prefer the SE but in the right hands the SOV is just as good if not better, its just I have more confidence in the SE so I concentrate more, whereas with the SOV I could never pick out the deeper stuff but an experienced SOV user would.

The Sov with the WOT isn't as good as the Sov with the 12x15 SEF and I'de put my money on the Sov every time over the Etrac on the beach.

For the beach the sov is the best out there.
I would still go for Excalibur thou because it nearly identical
but waterproof   :)

Still have my sov elite and se pro, i tend to prefer sov for beach work and se pro for pasture and the new Deus for fresh plough  ;D

cannot comment on an etrac, i am sure i have seen this topic discussed on the mlo, might see what they say next time i log on mlo  ;)
