How did the day go? I know RARE were taking a coach and a few Cardiff Scan members went as well.

agree with Mike. Either nothing was ever there or it's been to death by other clubs. There wasn't even that much lead being produced.

ye agree as well it was totally dead .... a little birdy told me at the rally yesterday that there was a rally held on this same farm around three years ago which would explain the total lack of finds  Sad

It was a total waste of time and money ,might as well of just sent them the money and stayed at home,I know it was for a good cause but in my mind it was receiving money under false pretences. NEVER AGAIN.

I've got to ask Welshbreed, why have you got a picture of Neil Jones as your avatar?

I went to a Wootton Bassett rally about 2 years ago with RARE and it was the same.

The girl on the hotdog van said she'd been there before  (I think she was referring to the place)  Grin

Who was the organiser?

not very many finds at this rally unfortunately...... Undecided.......after the hype that the site was "undetected" it was disappointing....but it was a day out with a coach-load of like minded friends..... Grin......byron

I managed a few bits and bobs but I was restricting myself to the fields next to the road and the farm. I notice everyone pretty much legged it for the stubble field beyond the pasture but I hung back and did slow careful sweeps.

I got a Nuremburg Jetton in pretty good nick, a roman grot and what I think is a Henry V111 copper groat, but I stand to be corrected on the last one, and a huge bronze pot-leg.

Never been there before but there were a few grumbles about the fact that this was not undetected land. I didnt expect much because I couldnt research the site with the info we were given. I am happy with my finds but there were very few finds displayed in the finds cabinet next to the FLO tables.

Anyway, heres a few photos.

Eric

Meatslicer clearly you did a lot better than many others at the dig. Thanks for posting your finds for others to enjoy. Wink Grin
