Went out with DaveHa for a few hours today on a new farm for us, well about 6 hours really but dont tell his missus Wink

I said "I wouldnt mind finding another hammy like that last one I thought was foil" took 3 steps and out popped this one at about 6 inches, Dave's comments were not for the sensitive....

Any ideas of which eddy it is please, I find em hard to decipher  Sad

Bit of a different one that. Shame it's so wrecked.

It's Edward I, Class 3e, Newcastle mint. The full mint signature is VILL/ANO/VICA/STRI

Wow thanks Doc Smiley I'm really glad I posted it Smiley  Is the Newcastle mint rarer then ?

Yes I was happy to find it but dissapointed it was so rough Sad   I guess there's more there than if it were a cut half though....just...  Wink  All 2 hammies so far this year have been chewed Sad  Better luck next time I guess...

Many thanks for the ID though, much appreciated  Smiley

If you look at the book prices, there is not much difference.

But because coins were only struck at Newcastle for three classes - 3e, 9b/c and 10ab, they are scarcer as detecting finds.

On UKDFD, for example, there are 691 London pennies of Edward I/II, 266 Canterbury pennies, and 304 from the eleven other mints of which 22 are from Newcastle, with just 3 being the same class as yours.

So a bit of a change from the usual.
