Title: DW Grand Daddy !!
Post by: ancientpat on August 25, 2016, 03:17:05 PM
I was looking at members profiles and updated my own with my birth date and being curious I had a look at other members date of birth and unless I am wrong it appears that I am the most Ancient at 85 !!! I am looking forward to Sundays rally  and can remember finding a cartwheel penny on the first DW rally in the Vale near Cowbridge.

                                              Cheers

                                                                   Pat ;) ;)

Nice one Ancientpat you make me feel a positive youngster at 65, it is really good to hear of someone your age still going strong. Be proud of yourself.

Lovely to have a natter with you yesterday Pat and that silver thimble should turn out to be a cracker when you reshape it.

See you soon
Neil (up very early thanks to my boy!)

Hi Neil,
I enjoyed the day  at Gileston and our chat also. I have cleaned up the silver thimble which has the words "LOVE  VERTUE" note the spelling and so far the only one on line that I have found is a brass one with the same words and they class it as Jacobean 1600's.I will send a picture of it to Brian Read who has just written a book on thimbles.  I didn't come across Taff yesterday at the rally.I hope your boy is going to be a detectorist too!! Never too soon to start.

                                                                 Cheers

                                                                                 Pat  ;) ;)
