Title: CTX & Tadpole
Post by: celticspikey on January 26, 2015, 09:06:48 PM
Back on roman field today for a few hours, first signal of note was the bronze pin head, followed by a mystery piece of bronze  ??? my guess either roman or iron age. I had the usual pieces of lead and managed to pick up the two pieces of  roman samian with a good detail on. This tadpole programme is something I will persevere with along with now using target trace. Back tomorrow for another session :P ;)

My 1st thought on your bronze thingy was 'cow horn protector'  but it doesn't look exactly like the ones I've found.  What's it like cleaned out Paul ?  Lovely pieces of Samian.

You seem to be doing very well with your CTX makes me think maybe you should sell your Deus  ::)

Hi Val, it seems a bit small I think for horn protector :-\ that said I don't think I have ever found one, I cleaned it up and it has a small hole through it! It would be nice to find some bigger pieces of that samian, that said I was lucky to find that I suppose as you know it don't last long in the flinty soil. As for selling my Deus ::) ::)you are naughty its charged up ready for a session tomorrow if I had to part with one Val I really wouldn't know which one to get rid of both fantastic machines the Deus light and friendly and the CTX full of power and very sexy looking :P :P :P :P....... ;D ;)

Ah,  boys and their toys Paul.  Detectors are just the same as model aircraft and motor bikes.  They all make a statement.

Had another look at my collection of horn protectors and yes they are bigger than your bronze thingy. Plus they are all iron except one.  So pass on that one.

HH tomorrow.

Val
