Nothing that complicated Maxine, as a British animal I just love seeing them around and they are funny little creatures.

Sorry for the delay in coming up with the answer.

Pieres only minted London coins in Classes 1a-1c, so the coin is Henry II.

It's not 1a because these have  a square E. It's not 1a var. (sometimes called 1a*), because these have an X with serifs.

Ic and 1b are very similar. Ib always has 2 curls in the hair to the left and 5 on the right, and usually a stop before REX. In 1c the portrait is less well-shaped, the number of curls are variable but more to the right than the left, and there is usually no stop before REX.

This coin has the 2 and 5 curls, no stop and to me the portrait looks a bit rough, so it's a bit of a toss-up between 1b and 1c.

The site I found this coin on identified it as a Class 1c.
