Thanks to RARE for putting on a great day. The token competition consisted of gold-coloured aluminium rings, plus there were 'instant win' gold-coloured pre-decimal pennies in little bags with a raffle ticket. The food was excellent and the organisation was first-class.

As well as the token field, we had a huge amount of land to detect on for the rest of the day. Find of the day was part of a Bronze Age dagger. I also saw a nice buckle for a RARE member and a silver clog clasp found by Stephen King of Cardiff. I didn't hear of any hammered coming up, and didn't see any milled silver either, which is a bit unusual.

My own finds consisted of two pennies, two halfpennies and a farthing, all Edward VII or George V, and metal labels off two Victorian rose varieties. Oh, and I had four of the token rings and an 'instant win' which was a stainless steel flask  :)

Once again, thanks to RARE for doing such a good job. It was nice to meet up with your members and families, and let's hope it's not too long before we can provide another return competition for the trophy.
