Post by: jammiedigger on April 18, 2016, 10:32:01 PM
Spenr all day on an old permission with very little turning up noticed 4 ploughed fields belonging to the neigbouring farmer who was in to has history and after a breif chat and some flints he found on the fields he gladly gave me permission and with only half hour of light left so tested it and came up with a few nice military buttons one from a royal navy lieutenant in 1740s another royal court of arms button. 2nd photo is the 1740s navy button

Photos didn't down load Jammie.
I agree with you though. Buttons can be interesting, especially Livery buttons. Loads of research to track down the original owner and great when you do (not often) I read that there are over 17,000 different designs, all belong to different families over the years. Go beat that if you can  ;D
