Ive just got back from my first day out detecting. Amongst a load of junk, I found a small silver coin. If anyone could help me identify it or give me some tips on how to identify it, I would be very grateful.

An Excellent way to start your new hobby and very well done. Any chance of reshooting the pics but from directly overhead rather than at the angle as the depth of field isn't that large. Also could you pop a 5p next to it to give scale Wink

Well to pop your cherry on your first outing must be some sort of record and that is not the commonest of coins either.
Looking at the new shots, much better by the way so thanks you, and it's size, I should have stuck with my first choice as in , a Halfpenny
