Title: depth gauge
Post by: anthonyjay on January 25, 2012, 12:33:47 PM
Just an idea I have used for some years now to check the depth of the hole I have dug. The blade on my spade is 9" long, 1" above it I filed a slight groove in the metal shaft, then 2" above that another groove and so on until I had reached the top of the shaft. This gave me markings at 10" -12"- 14"- 16"- 18" and 20". Came in useful when I finally located the small object at the bottom of the hole at 14", a friend with me confirmed the depth. Hope this is helpful
