For me it's definitely about getting out in the countryside, seeing a bit of nature, the peace and quiet, being totally relaxed,a chance to forget about life's stresses and just the small chance, of maybe finding something old and interesting that has been lost for years and years and researching it's possible history. All in all,it's hard to beat, love it Smiley

I started this crazy hobby 35 years ago as a coin collecting teenager and got hooked after my first viccy shilling. Nowadays, after a 30 year gap, I love the freedom and the time to think that you get out on the fields. The finds are a bonus, as are some of the great people I've met out there in the pursuit.

Fresh air, the exercise (don't I need it) Grin
The find is a bonus, but most of all is meeting some very nice people and have made some very good friends.

Great hobby. Cool

In my case it’s the love of history and finding an object that has been buried for centuries, knowing that you are the first person to have held it since it was lost.
Money is not necessarily a motivation as I earn it in bucket loads, but I would like to see the T.V.C value the object fairly, if it has to be taken from me, and not just  pull any old figure out of a hat.  Lips sealed
